Elegant sterling silver salver in a desirable classical circular form, with a softly scalloped rim typical of the Georgian Revival style of the post‑Edwardian period. Of clean and balanced proportion, with a pretty rope‑pattern edge and raised on three finely cast claw feet, it is a wonderful example of the sober, elegant creations of Walker & Hall, Sheffield silversmiths known for their impeccable craftsmanship.

Walker & Hall is one of those makers that quietly underpins the entire story of British silver: solid, reliable, beautifully made, and always just a little ahead of the curve.

The salver carries a full set of Sheffield sterling hallmarks, including the gothic date letter ‘y’ for 1916, the lion passant for solid silver, the Sheffield crown, and the W&H maker’s mark of Walker & Hall.”

On the underside, the salver carries Walker & Hall’s distinctive pennant trademark, together with the “Walker & Hall – Sheffield” workshop stamp and the pattern number 5369l. The pennant is the firm’s famous emblem, used on their finest silver to indicate manufacture in their Sheffield workshops. The pattern number identifies the specific model of salver, its rim design, foot style, and proportions — while the small trailing digit or letter denotes the individual craftsman or batch responsible for the final finish.

Together, these marks confirm the salver’s authenticity and its origin in Walker & Hall’s renowned early‑20th‑century production, celebrated for its impeccable workmanship and classical Georgian Revival styling.
