A richly decorated Royal Worcester miniature cream jug, created for the Compton & Woodhouse Historic Jugs Collection, a twelve‑piece series celebrating Worcester’s most beloved historic designs. This example is inspired by the early chinoiserie patterns that flourished at Worcester from 1760–1820, when the factory (later led by the famed Flight & Barr partnership) embraced the European fascination with oriental porcelain.

The jug features a vibrant palette of lacquer reds, deep cobalt blues, and bright chrome greens, each vignette framed beneath a graceful arch. Within these compartments sit dragons, oriental flowers, Chinese vases, and table arrangements, echoing the original Kilin pattern, later renamed “Dragons in Compartments”, itself inspired by the porcelain imported to Europe by the Dutch East India Company.

A delicate band of hand‑painted 22‑carat gold encircles the rim, adding a final note of refinement to this charming miniature.

Though originally made for display, it sits beautifully in a modern home: perfect for a single bloom, scented sticks, or as a sweet accent on the breakfast table.
