Can this chopping board go in the dishwasher?

No. This solid oak chopping board should always be washed by hand. Dishwashers expose wood to prolonged heat and moisture, which can cause warping or cracking. Hand washing and thorough drying will keep the board in excellent condition for years.

How do I care for this board on a day-to-day basis?

After use, rinse with warm water and mild washing-up liquid, then dry immediately. Avoid soaking. Standing the board upright to air-dry helps prevent moisture from being trapped.

How often should I oil this chopping board?

We recommend oiling the board every one to three months, or whenever the wood appears dry. Seasonal changes and central heating can increase how often oiling is needed. Use a food-safe mineral oil or beeswax blend.

What oil should I use on this board?

Use a food-safe mineral oil or a beeswax and mineral oil combination. Avoid cooking oils such as olive or vegetable oil, as these can go rancid over time.

Can I use both sides of the board?

Yes. This board is designed to be used on both sides. The side with spikes is perfect for carving meat while the smooth side lends itself to beautifully display cheese, crudites or charcuterie.

Will the board change in appearance over time?

Walnut is a hard wood, so the spikes will stays sharp, even after years of use. With regular use and care, the walnut will develop a richer tone and natural patina. Fine knife marks are expected and add character rather than detract from the board’s quality.  Walnut is a hard wood, so the spikes will stays sharp, even after years of use.
